Learn Korean: Asking For Directions In Korean
Let's ditch the map app and learn how to ask for directions like a local in Korea! Starting with politeness, 'sillyehamnida' means 'excuse me', a great way to initiate a conversation. Now, to ask 'where is' something, we use 'eodiseo'. Imagine you're looking for the train station, you'd ask, 'Eodiseo gi-cha-yeok -'? (Where is the train station?) Want to know if something is close? 'Gakkai' is your word! So you can ask, 'Gakkai -?' (Is it close?) Conversely, if you suspect it's a bit of a trek, use 'meol-li' for 'far'. 'Meol-li -?' (Is it far?) allows you to gauge the distance. Finally, to understand directions, 'ijjok-euro' means 'this way'. Someone might respond to your question with 'Ijjok-euro gaseyo' (Go this way). Now go forth and confidently navigate the streets of Korea with these handy phrases โ impress your friends and locals alike!
